True Religion

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Why is this pure and undefiled before God?

1 Peter 4:1-2

….For whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for humans passions but for the will of God.

When we are willing to lay down our lives for another there is no more selfishness in us only the love of God through Christ. We no longer live for human passions but for the will of God. God is love and the picture of love is Christ who laid down His life for the joy that was set before Him…knowing us. True Love never fails because it has no personal agenda…only the Love of God which is shown through Christ and through us if we are willing to empty ourselves of selfish ambition and allow His love to flow. We had nothing to offer Him and yet He Loved us and showed us the meaning of True Religion.
